HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation Nepal
Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) is providing Technical Assistance (TA) to the Government of Nepal (GoN) through the Department of Local Infrastructure Development and Agricultural Roads (DoLIDAR) under Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development (MoFALD) in the implementation of Trail Bridge Sub Sector Programme (TBSSP) and Local Roads Bridge Programme (LRBP) in Nepal. On behalf of Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), Trail Bridge Support Unit (TBSU)/HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation (HSI), Nepal and Local Roads Bridge Support Unit / AF–Iteco, Switzerland provide the Technical Assistance to the Government of Nepal for implementation of TBSSP and LRBP. The restructuring of the state and the elections in 2017 provide a unique historic opportunity for local development in Nepal. The local and state governments enjoy unprecedented rights including the exclusive authority on development of local infrastructure. With a broader objective to help the Government of Nepal in developing inclusive and the required capacities in the areas of bridge building, SDC intends to offer internship opportunities for fresh graduates giving them a chance to gain a first-hand experience with these two projects. In this context, TBSU/HSI, Nepal and LRBSU / AF-Iteco invite applications from interested and qualified Nepali Nationals to join hands in the nation building through the following opportunities.
Position : Intern Engineer (only for women) – 14 positions
Qualification : Fresh Graduates completing
Bachelors in Civil Engineering. No prior job experience required. Fresh
graduate with keen learning attitude, sense of responsibility and
sensitivity towards multicultural environment.
Duration : 12 months
Duration : 12 months
Position : Intern Sub-engineer – 35 positions
Qualification : Fresh Graduates completing Diploma
in Civil Engineering. No prior job experience required. Fresh graduate
with keen learning attitude, sense of responsibility and sensitivity
towards multicultural environment.
Duration : 9 months
Duration : 9 months
For both positions:
Duty station : Provincial Offices of Trail Bridge
Support Unit (TBSU) and Local Roads Bridge Support Unit (LRBSU) with
frequent travel to the field (at least 70% time field accompaniment).
However, the place of posting can be changed as per project’s need.
Purpose : Provide professional work exposure to the
fresh graduates by providing guided work opportunity from/with senior
staff of TBSU and LRBSU. Get hands-on skill on Trail Bridge and
Motorable Bridge construction and have exposure with real work
environment.
Major Roles and Responsibilities
The Intern Engineer /Sub-engineer will acquire in depth knowledge, skills and experience in Trail Bridge and Motorable Bridge area and s/he will be responsible to assist Trail Bridge and Motorable Bridge Engineer for:
• capacitating regional partner by co-working to provide technical assistance to the respective local governments;
• ensuring that local government construct bridges in coherence with the National policy and strategies;
• planning, budgeting, survey, design, estimate, construction, monitoring and supervision, quality control and quality assurance of Trail and Motorable bridges
